Abstract: This paper deals with a noteworthy issue such as the so-called non performing loans (NPLs), which affect the Italian credit system. The analysis focuses, in particular, on a rational management scheme of the NPLs of three Italian banks: Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS), Banca Popolare di Vicenza (BPVI) and Veneto Banca (VB).
